まじめにベンチマーク３ Mac ⇔ Linux箱=RAID箱 CIFSでファイル転送 [Benchmark]
CIFSでファイル転送。
早い話が、Linux箱でsambaを動かして、Macとファイル共有します。
なんでsambaかって？
よく考えると、Macとのファイル共有なので、sambaでなくてよかったのデス。
むかしの名残かしら。。
CIFSでの転送パフォーマンスの上限を知りたいので、まずは、MacもLinuxも
RAMディスクからのファイル転送を行います。
まず、LinuxのRAMディスク/dev/shmもsambaで共有させておきます。
共有ディレクトリをMacでマウントします。/Volume/（共有名） とか。
転送性能
$ time cp /Volume/ram/10m_1 /Volume/ramdisk/10m_1
$ time cp /Volume/ram/100m_1 /Volume/ramdisk/100m_1
単位は以下すべてMB/sec
結果

な、なんか、おそくないですか〜？
TCPのレイヤーで936Mbit/sec=117MB/secで、
ローカルのRAMディスク転送はそれよりずーっと速いので、
sambaが遅いのでしょう。
FTPやnetatalkあたりと比較するといいかもしれませんが、
もうちょっとsambaで粘ってみます。
が、、少し調べると、sambaは初期状態ですでにチューニング済み
なので、あんまりいじらない方がよいと。。

でも、あちこちいぢっちゃいます♪
結果として、sambaの設定項目で顕著なパフォーマンス向上が
みられたのは次の項目です。
max xmit
デフォルトでは、16644でしたが、これを65535に変更します。
これは顕著でした。
ついでに、
block size
も1024から4096に変更します。
ん〜、これは、わずか？または変わらず、ぐらいです。
これら二つの値を変更した結果がこちら。

およそ、10MB/sec程度のパフォーマンス向上が確認できました。
が、それでも遅くないかしら？
TCPレイヤーで117MB/sec がアプリケーションレイヤーで50MB/sec
